I just wanted to make some comments on the direction of this blog and get some feedback so give me some.
What is happening now
I have been working on a really big article that will help wrap up the “Creating a Blog Design from Scratch” series. After that I will organize it so that there is a page that will link to each article so that it’s easy to find everything. Plus, I am going to redesign the sidebar again for the seventh time.
Once that is done, I will start finishing up the “Blog Design 101″series. I know some people have been waiting for the next article on that series so I just wanted to let you know I haven’t forgotten about it.
Future plans
In the future, I want to start touching on the coding side of blog design so this poll is to see which blog software most people are using. I will be covering WordPress for sure, but I want to see if it is worthwhile to cover anything else. Only pick the blogs that you are interested in reading an article about. If you have any other topics you would like me to cover, feel free to leave a comment or send me an email.

Been with blogger for two years now. one of the reasons is that it’s free. Unlike wp.com, I can customize the design. But there are problems with feeds and design validation.
Always have been a wordpress user, although the “security” is sometimes fuzzy.
I’ve been using typepad and switched to wordpress recently. Mainly because of the possibilities and speed.
I use Squarespace, i think its pretty excelent, everything works great and the admin features are really cool.
I’m actually on Wordpress, I think it’s the better at this moment, but I would like to try with another soft beacause Wordpress is too usual…
Joomla user here.
I’ve been a Wordpress user for a few years now. I used to use Movable Type but switched because of how slow updating Movable Type was. It seems like WP has the best community of support and I absolutely love 2.5’s interface changes.
I’ve been a Wordpress user for quite some time. My first blog was on Geeklog, but I haven’t really seen anyone using them for a long time. I can’t wait for you to get into the coding for theme design because I am working on completely redesigning my blog.
You should consider BlogEngine.NET (dotnetblogengine.com), it is free and open source blog engine written in asp.net. It is easy to use and extremely easy to theme. I found more and more blogs that runs on this engine.
I am creating my second blog (jankoatwarpspeed.com) which will be my customized and themed version of BlogEngine.net.
You can also consider Community Server. My first blog is running on that engine, although I am not very happy.
Compendium is a newer company focused only on the Corporate and organizational market.
We are not free, but we are laser focused on meeting the needs of business. We launched in July of ‘07 and double every quarter.
I’ll be happy to provide more information if you are interested.

Hey Vinh,
Great blog. I use wordpress. Its plugin support is the main reason.
Keep up the great work! Do you have a stumble account?
@Abhisek: Yeah, blogger is pretty popular because it is free. For blogging purposes, it works great. But for design purposes, it gets a little tricky, but I have seen people do wonders with blogger.
@Eriend: Yeah, security seems to be one of the things people don’t like about wordpress. But since they are the most popular blogging software, they tend to get targeted the most by hackers.
@Simon: Wordpress is a great choice.
@Doug: I never used squarespace before, but I have been seeing their name pop up more. It will be interesting to take a look at it.
@Mat: If you want to be a part of a more unusual group, but still have great blogging capabilities you should check out textpattern and expression engine.
@Stefan: Nice a joomla user!
@Cory: Yeah, it has great community support. I have updated a few of my clients to 2.5 and they love it as well.
@Adam Teece: Glad you are as excited as I am about getting into the code part. I love both sides of blog design so it will be a nice change in pace to talk more about the coding part.
@Janko: Thanks for the suggestion, I will check that out. Never heard of it before. You don’t like community server? Patrick at designmeltdown.com seems to love it to death.
@Chris Baggott: That is an interesting niche to aim for with blogs. What makes it different from the blog software that is already being offered and what makes it better for the corporate and organizational market than them?
@Regan: Thanks. Yeah, I am a big stumbler. I actually wrote an article about it on this blog. My username is risend, feel free to add me.
I use a blog engine called b2evolution which I found about a year ago. I was about to drop them in favor of WordPress, but then I discovered that the new version had far superior widget handling capabilities, that made my redesign a whole lot easier.
Who knew that the only way to change plugin and widget settings in WP was to edit code? I was shocked when I found this out, especially since the code written for b2evo tends to be much easier to modify AND easier on the eyes.
That being said, I do wish there were a few more plugins written for b2evolution. They don’t have the huge community that WordPress does, although since this latest update a bunch more people seem to be jumping on the bandwagon.
Joomla! user over here too. Kind-of-disappointed it’s missing from the list.
Joomla! is actually a CMS (not a blogging platform such as Blogger or Wordpress), but so is Drupal.
I love wordpress
your blog is too good man thanks for the information i wanna ask u a quesction from where can i get a cool templet like yours plz reply
Chyrp (http://chyrp.net). Lightweight, modular, customizable, generally good UX. I’m a fan.
I use Expression Engine for all 4 of my blogs and am currently picking up my web design skills in order to go pro in the next year or so.
I use both Joomla and wordpress. My experience is that Joomla is a bit harder but has more options for configurations as well.
I’ve used wordpress for quite a while. I like it, but I’m not a big fan of the forum solutions that exist for it. I’m going to give Expression Engine a try for my next project specifically because of that reason.
I’m using wordpress on mine. Very happy with its ease of use.
I use Wordpress and Blogger, but i mostly use wordpress. It is very easy to configure.
I am interested in wordpress and Blogger
I will prefer wordpress and BLogger for designing blogs
I’m shoked! I see in google.com

Drupal and wordpress are the best.
Really interesting and impressive stuff… thanks for it
We tried drupal but think we will shirt back to wordpress becuz it’s much easy. Joomla takes time to load but is very good.
nice posting……….its always great reading such posts, this post is good in regards of both knowledge as well as information.
We really thank you for your wonderful article. You have created your page, I believe really helped us a lot…..
I prefer wordpress and BLogger for designing blogs.
I’ve always used WordPress mainly because it’s the most common blogging platform and there are loads of users and plugins for it. I will have to look at the other blogging software that’s available to see how it compares to WordPress.
. My first blog was on Geeklog, but I haven’t really seen anyone using them for a long time. I can’t wait for you to get into the coding for theme design because I am working on completely redesigning my blog.
Thanks for writing. was a really nice article. I always follow site. More waiting…..
I usually use WordPress because it’s very easy to customize with all the available add-ons they have.
Always have been a wordpress user, but I would like to try with another soft beacause i want to compare.
Joomla user here.
Wordpress, however I will say its a pain in the ass to get the darn thing SEO friendly, takes a good amount of work. Its real benefit however is the ease in which you can get it up and running.
I have started using Drupal lately. I find it to be kind of the opposite. Good on the SEO end (automatically blocks alot of the stuff in the robots.txt that you don’t need indexed) but does take a good amount of configuring.
Very good looking home page and nice information
I’m using wordpress!!!
Useful and nice information.
There so really a lot of options. Thanks for that information.
