Not too long ago, I had just finished putting together my online portfolio. Before working on my online portfolio, I did not know much about it and now I feel I am above average in putting together an awesome portfolio. The process I went through was the same one that I apply to every new challenge I approach.
1. First, I searched for existing information on the specific area I was tackling. I read up on everything related to that area.
2. Second, I looked for really good examples of how the people with the best portfolios did theirs. I carefully went over the placement of their work and how they worded their sentences.
3. Third, I wrote down my goals for my website, who my audience was, how did I want it to feel, and how would I measure success.
4. Finally, I went through different sketches/concepts before I actually designed and coded the site. I also had different people review and test it in order to make sure there were no usability problems.
