Name: Designredux (Don’t you just love my theme names)
Version: 0.1
Platform: Wordpress (Possibly other platforms if there are enough requests)
Live Demo: Designredux live demo
Download: Designredux 0.1 zip
A few notes
Yes, this version is really 0.1 because this theme was designed with the intention of being in continual development as a project for this blog. Basically what that means is that this theme is intended to be used as a part of a series of tutorials on coding, designing, and redesigning. By the time it hits 1.0, it will be loaded with new features and of course a redesign as it is reassesed as time goes on.
The next series of articles will focus on how this theme was built from scratch. Then after that, future articles will focus on adding more features and improving the design of the theme. If you have anything you would like me to cover in particular, feel free to drop me a message or comment.

wow, i love this site
If this is 0.1 then I can’t wait to see what 1.0 will look like! Because this is a really slick theme.
Very nice Vinh. I like it a lot. Clean but attractive.
Awesome release. Definitely worth 1,000,000 downloads
Woow, very nice!!! I like this site.
Simply outstanding…
It just has this initial yummy clean feel to it, just seeing the screenshot made me want to check it out. And the live demo is just even better.
AM soooooo tempted to give this a whirl, but not sure it it would work with the portfolio aspect on my own site, and various custom pages.
But congratulations, this is one sweet theme.
God luck to you with it.
Graham
Wow- I love this. I already have an idea for how to use this template on a charity project I am doing. I will let you know if we end up going that route and credit you fully if we use it. Thanks man- great site, great info.
wow wow wow clean and slick theme
some suggestion
- in recent post list at the bottom, may change to another loop to post 6-10?. because it’s redundant with the entire home page
regular recent post can be added via widget (is this theme widget ready? no? I don’t test it yet)
- add some text with “read more” pink arrow, move it to left align
- add hover effect for comment number black box
Hi,
I want to say thanks for discussing about the theme released by wordpress.
Thanks for your update. Nice post.
uuvv nice, clean design. Thanks
Wow! nice theme.
Really, thank you. I’ll use it on my next website. I’ll show you when I finished my site :).
Hello again,
I’m preparing my website but I have a problem. My image is larger than logo_bg.png. I couldn’t see the half of the image. How can I fix it? Please someone help. Thanks. Here is an image:

Hi,
Your theme is fantastic and i loved it but i want to enable widgets in it…
Ok I solved my problem, editing style.css, thanks anyway :).
Nice theme, so here is a suggestion for you:
You can add a “log in” top of the page for easy navigation.
I’ve made it. I tach you if you want to learn. But I think you can do better :).

(sorry for my bad english)
I have a question, again.
I want to add a calendar icon near the header of the entry, like yours.
http://www.blogdesignblog.com/wp-content/themes/dreamworks_redux/images/date.png
How can I do this? Ive added the date and month codes to style.css, used the same codes with this theme, and added the image, to “images” folder, with the same name. But still I can’t see the date.jpg on the page. How can I do? Do you have a suggestion? Please help me this time :).
@r3ivaj I love you too.
@Graham The series of articles I am writing now focuses on breaking down the theme and rebuilding it. I am going to cover every aspect of customizing the theme so anyone can have it do whatever they want. I have so many things I want to add that I can’t wait.
@Stephen You’re welcome, can’t wait to see how you use it. If you need any help just end me an email.
SE7EN Good suggestions! No, the theme is not widget-ready yet. It will be in the next version. I was playing around with the read more pink arrow and text, so far I haven’t found something I liked but I will keep playing with it. I will get on making that black box hover.
As for the recent posts, I like the 1-5 because not everyone enters the blog from the home page. But I will make it so it is easily changeable in the future.
@iamdezzy Glad you got the first problem fixed. I don’t clearly understand what you are trying to do with the calendar icon though. You want a calendar icon on the designredux theme? You have a picture of what you want it to look like? Send me an email using the contact form.
@Everyone Thanks
My problem is this:

And one last thing:
Last post isn’t looking normal in a single post.

Very cool, might have to feature this one in my next ‘free wordpress themes’ blog article.
@iamdezzy Making a date like that requires you to change the xhtml/css, which is not something I can explain easily in a comment. Maybe in a future tutorial.
As for that last error, I have fixed it. Version 0.2 will be available soon with some additional custom pages and various fixes.
@Mat That would be awesome, thanks!
Wow! good to see this
