30 Must See Comment Designs for Web Designers
Comment design is an art. Comment design is often overlooked by a lot of web designers when they are designing their blog. It tends to be one of the last things a web designer works on and because of that it suffers. This list shows 30 blogs where the web designer didn’t just throw together the same old comment design and put extra effort into their comment design to make it fit with their blog design.

GOOD COLLECTION.
Brilliant Idea, thanks for putting this together. Thanks!
Good article & you’re totally reading my mind! I desperately need to do something about my comment design! Dugg.
http://elliotjaystocks.com/blog/ should have made that list
Great list, interesting to find your own comments styling on them ;). But the list is very interesting nevertheless.. and your comment styling great as well.
Hey Vinh Le,
Thanks for including my site on this list! And have you forgotten to include your own comment section?? This one is great!
Hey men
This is a really great article. I mean this serious. I saved the whole page as 1 big jpg so i can watch it back everytime i need.
Ooh and thx for the follow url
Chears,
Ronald
This is great!
The hardest design part to integrate into a blog is the comments because it is almost always an afterthought. Most of the time we are not even looking at the comments, or have the comments field filled while the design process kicks in.
Brilliant stuff, I really like the Dark Motion comments.
I think Typesites has some excellent and unique comment formatting as well, though it’s a little off in Safari.
Great idea to collect and compile an amazing list of comment section designs. Good work!
Very nice, this one is going in my bookmarks. Will be updating some blogs soon.
Good list and great examples!
I recently wrote an article discussing this topic as well. It covers how to improve your comment section and gives examples that are separated stylistically.

I love this post. Great ideas here for comment sections. Also I wanted to say that I really enjoy the look and feel of your blog. I love how when you scroll down it looks like they’re scrolling at different speeds. Beautiful website!
I think I like your comments best of all.
Honestly, I think your comments look best. <3
I miss some nested comments examples.

Impressive and interesting post! Thanks.
How about our comments? I really like them!
Here’s an example of a big thread: http://www.atomtigerblog.de/2007/05/31/studivz-in-blau-greasemonkey-skript/#comment-4753
Hi, thanks for the mention! I have to agree with some of the others as your comments are probably my favourite of them all. Thanks again, James.
Very nice collection. Personally, I like yours.
My favorite is #24. Great idea.
What do you think about my comments? I especially linke my comment form:

Great Post Thanks
I started a redesign of my blog last week, still just using templates by others but getting to the point where I feel more comfortable tweaking them.
Found your site on the weekend and instantly downloaded the template just to add in the comment formatting to replace what was in the new template I am setting up.
Great list, but I obviously would have placed your own design on it myself. And thanks for making the template available.
Cheers
Very original post!
This is one of the things I look at when ever I go to a new site. Nice to have it compiled. Very nice!
I wish you got some nested comment examples, though.
I like how you just sorta snuck yours in there at #5, haha, but it really is one of my favorite by far, so elegant. Other than that, #24 Jonathan Snook’s is another favorite of mine. All pretty nice though.
Thanks for the inspiration!
Jonathan Snook’s blog design has been my favorite for a while. I also tend to like any speech bubble-style comments.
Nice designs…i love it.very colorful..simple but adorable..gud job!;-)
I’ll vote for 18, 21, 24
Thanx for the post it’s really useful to put it in a designed way
I’m almost certain that my blog may fall into the “bad”blog design category but I’m currently enrolled in “bad blog rehab”. Thank you for sharing all of these wonderful resources and maybe one day I can step my game and get a good blog design so people don’t talk about me behind my back. *Yells behind himself* STOP LAUGHING AT ME!
IMO, one comments design is missing: http://perfectionorvanity.com - this blog is now suspended but still it is one of the most admirable source of Web Design knowledge, unfortunately only in Polish.
Thanks for another sources of inspiration, my Fav: #5, #19, #24, #25.
Nice of you to put these pieces of great design, love them.

Mmh, very interesting list, it’s something that not many people would compare but it’s still very useful. I am not quite sure how my blog ended up in that list though, I always thought that my comment design had a long way to go. Thanks anyway…
Thanks for the feature again! Great list to look at !

I would agree that these are all really well done, but I don’t think that any of them are really very special.
I’d say that Nimbupani, Jonathan Snooks’s comments are at least creative. But seriously these comments look tired to me.
There were a couple of good ones up there in the comments. Now I don’t mean to brag, but seriously, look at my comments section–that’s more like it
I must say, I do like how clean these comments look. Very tidy!
Great list. I must say yours like nice too
Really nice, i thing i got something to bite!
Amazing….. It feels good to find someone who has concern for things that are usually overlooked.
“No matter how pleasant something would appear, there will always be a room for improvement”
Thats handy. It’s something that as been bugging the crap out of me as I’m so new to blogging; trying to find a nice way of leaving comments.
I have a layout currently on my site but I think it wastes too much space so I might move the ‘from’ stuff around to the top.
I’m a big fan of the ’speach bubble’ type of layout and yours is done nicely. =]
Nice collection.. Different from all design inspiration blog posts. Reputed
Simply LOVE!
@chandan: Thanks, and thanks for submitting my article to digg. I appreciate it.
@Prof Kienstra: If I didn’t add them, someone would comment about that as well. But I did, yet people still say I should had included mines in it. Can’t make everyone happy it seems.
@Matt Rossi: You’re welcome.
@Picasa: You could just bookmark it and you’re welcome.
@Herbalife: That is exactly how I feel. I really like designing comments.
@Drake: Thanks for the suggestion, I hadn’t seen it before.
@Josh: Nice article.
@Jenny, @Naresh, @James, @Steven: Thanks
@Jorge: You are right, I will try to gather some. If you have suggestions for some great ones, feel free to shoot it my way.
@atomtigerblog: Looks like a solid base, but I feel it needs a bit of color.
@donvanone: I love the contrast with the trackbacks. It looks very organic.
@Rob: You’re welcome. Have fun with the template.
@Jesus DeLaTorre: I will try to find some good nested comments.
@Tigga76: Just take it one step at a time and you will have a great blog design in no time.
@emendelski: I never seen that before, nice comment design indeed.
@Domnik Lenk: I thought it was very unique with the way it was spread out.
@sc: Totally forgot about macrabbits. They have a great comment design.
@Dustin Boston: Thanks, can’t see your comments atm.
@Alex: Yeah, comment design is often overlooked. It is beautiful though when done right.
@Jack: Thanks, I like speech bubbles too.
@Ben, @Julia: Thanks.
A must add should be Particletrees Version:

Nevertheless, nice post!
Good collection.
How about Veerle’s blog comment style, that’s one beautiful design. Blogdesignblog’s is good too
Great collection, thanks so far, for me I’d like knowing Your opinion and tips to the examples. I think this could be very useful.
Hi
It is a very nice and very impressive post and I like it.
Number 15 is very nice!
There is some lovely examples here. One I’ve seen before, if you have a blog and write posts. Comment on someone else’s blog and it will show you your latest blog post from your own site.
Great point! people spend so much time on a blog design and then forget the comments. Adds that finishing touch
Don’t get me wrong, your design definitely should be in your list.. As i said, it looks very nice.
Nice showcase! I have a similar collection of about 70 examples of blog comment design too.
It’s good to have someone appreciate blog comments.. your not only an web designer but as well as an artist.
keep em coming.. once again good job.
Good, site have learned more through this site for design, I have through months of reading search engine optimisation and reading how to gain links books. Prehaps you can give me me some advice on how to get my wiltshire based web company to the top of search engines - help to get me comments/links and to my site? http://www.eye-web-design.co.uk
Great collection of comment designs… Your comment design is very cool as well.
You have one of the best in my opinion. Great job and thanks for the list!
nice
You’ve gotta be kidding giving Dale Anthony’s stupidly massive yet supposedly sly rip-off of Elliot Jay Stocks any credit whatsoever
very nice
Check out the comments here: http://timothysykes.com/2008/05/02/how-i-screwed-up-these-two-near-perfect-calls-to-sell-short/
Great!I think comment design of your website is good!
I totally agree. I think I should revamp my comment design as well.
# 5 and # 10 are amazing.
I’m still working on
My Blog Design .
your website is very nice and good collections
Very nice collection. I like how some of the larger comments (on this blog page) the link turns green and the arrow goes the other way.
I found your site today while looking for good wordpress designs. I fell in love with your design and I was ecstatic to see that it was available for download. I have uploaded to my new blog that I am working on, but was really disappointed to see that the comments section is different then yours. Your comment section is the main reason I downloaded your theme. Is there any option of getting the code for it? Or maybe a tutorial.
Thanks! Brent
I like the layouts, however in todays day and age making your comments attractive should not be something new. Its an important part of your site.
The one thing I did notice is that none of them address the issue of getting MORE comments. The whole point to having a comments section is for user interaction, user feedback and topic discussion. The primary purpose of ANY comments area should be to GET comments, then to display them nicely in a readable format.
I like what you have done here with your comments section but its frustrating to have to scroll all the way to the bottom of 72 commemnts to post your own. You also have a lot of space between comments due to the design elements, again too much scrolling.
Just MHO
Scott
can any one plz provide the demo project on scenes above.
Good article
Wow, nice collection of comment designs. Good for the inspiration.
Thanks.

Very Nice List of comments, yes you are right it is usually overlooked but can be one of the nicest things about your blog having a creative comments plugin.

Excellent article, totally on the same page. I totally need to do something about my comment design!
excellent selection. Styling comments always seem to be left out in most blogs..
I use this little nifty tool. It gives you a quick view of how well your site is optimized for search engines and you’re able to track your Google ranks. http://seogroup.com/evaluation/ .. hope this helps out you guys.
Great showcase! Thanx for the post.

Great job and thanks for the list! It goes to bookmarks.
I do not believe this
I love it. Just how do you get the comments to say something else?
Don’t get me wrong, your design definitely should be in your list.. As i said, it looks very nice.
